I had a stable and predictable career in the military when a mystery illness changed the course of my life.
My plan was to build a long career in the health industry, a dream that began in high school, but life had other plans for me. After high school, I gravitated toward medicine—a field where I could help people. I attended the U.S. Air Force Academy, where I merged my passion for numbers and health by pursuing a degree in business management with the goal of leading healthcare organizations.
After graduation, I was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where I managed a clinic—overseeing staff, finances, and day-to-day operations. During this time, I earned a master’s degree in healthcare and business administration. I also met Sarah, my wife, and we started our family together. Our firstborn, Noah, was even born at a military hospital. Later, we welcomed Levi and Grace, completing our family.
My career path in the military seemed clear: I would focus on healthcare management. We moved to Florida, where I worked at a clinic that provided healthcare for Special Operations units. I was also deployed to Senegal and Kuwait, both of which were deeply meaningful experiences. In Senegal, I worked with doctors to set up clinics for locals who didn’t have access to healthcare. We provided glasses, dental care, and more. My role was to handle logistics—ordering supplies, setting up space, and directing patient flow.
In Kuwait, I supported medical operations during the war in Iraq and Syria. I worked in the military headquarters, managing clinics across the Middle East that cared for injured personnel. It was incredibly fulfilling work, motivated me to continue my career in the Air Force, doing something I loved.
Everything changed when, at age 29, I began experiencing significant health issues. I was hospitalized several times, and with doctors unable to diagnose this mysterious heart illness, I underwent several heart surgeries.
To stay in the military, I had to be in peak health, and my condition put that in jeopardy. The Air Force monitored me closely, but eventually, even though my health had improved, they medically retired me because I was unable to deploy overseas. It was a tough blow since I thought I had a plan for the next 10 plus years of my life, and suddenly, that plan vanished. I felt as though I had lost control.
It was time to pivot and find a new career. I remembered my grandfather, who flipped houses and rented them out. His work not only improved his life but also provided affordable housing for others. After moving so often due to my military career, I also understood the stress families face during relocations. Inspired by my grandfather and my interest in real estate, I decided to get my license in 2022 and become a REALTOR®. It turned out to be the right path for me –– I found immense joy in helping families during pivotal moments in their lives. Being part of their stories is deeply rewarding.
Nowadays, I stay active by lifting weights, walking in the forest, and playing pickleball. I also enjoy reading—everything from self-development and real estate books to mystery and murder novels. My greatest joy, though, is spending time with my kids. We love playing board games and sports together.
To stay involved in their lives, I volunteer as a basketball and baseball coach for their teams. I also serve as the treasurer of our neighborhood recreation association and lead a church group to help others grow in their knowledge of the Bible.
Looking back, I never imagined this is where I’d end up, but I’m grateful for the purpose I’ve found in helping families find homes where they can thrive.
I thrive on solving problems and guiding clients through complex situations, a skill I’ve honed throughout my career in health management. I bring those years of experience to real estate by delivering top-notch customer service, starting with my availability to answer questions and address concerns at any time. I believe in following a clear, defined process—a map, if you will—to ensure a smooth experience; I help clients understand every step of that process, guide them through it, and alleviate any stress along the way.
I excel at handling high-pressure situations, thinking creatively, and finding outside-the-box solutions, whether by removing obstacles or proposing new ideas to meet everyone’s needs. My attention to detail also sets me apart. As a Real estate investor, I also have experience in project management and remodeling, knowledge that I place at my clients’ service. I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life, including military families relocating. As a Christian, I strive to live out my faith through real estate; it’s my way of serving and showing love to my clients.
Sincerely,
Sean Rotbart
